Transit Insurance

Transit Insurance Service for Goods on the Move

Good packing lowers the odds of damage. Insurance handles the odds that remain. We arrange transit coverage for consignments moving with us from Delhi NCR — and unlike the fine print most people sign without reading, we walk you through exactly what is covered, what isn't, and what a claim actually involves, before you pay a rupee of premium.

What It Doesn't Do

Honesty up front beats an argument later. Transit insurance typically does not cover: items you packed yourself (owner-packed cartons), cash and jewellery, undeclared items, and pre-existing damage noted at pickup. Wear from normal handling — a scuff on a carton — isn't a claim; a broken television inside is.

This is why our crews photograph and inventory at pickup: clean documentation is what makes a genuine claim pay out quickly.

Process

How Coverage Works, Booking to Claim

  1. Declare

List your goods and their values. We quote the premium against that declaration.

  2. Insure

Policy issued in your name with the consignment note before departure.

  3. Verify at Delivery

Joint inspection against inventory. Any damage is logged on the spot, with photos.

  4. Claim if Needed

We help assemble the claim file and follow it up until settlement.

Why DTDC

Why Take Cover Through Your Mover

No Finger-Pointing

When mover and insurer coordination happens under one roof, a claim doesn't die between two companies each blaming the other. We carried it; we help settle it.

Documentation Built In

Our standard inventory and photo process is exactly the evidence a claim needs. Insured customers get it by default, not as an afterthought.

Terms Explained Before Payment

We go through coverage, exclusions, and excess with you before you opt in. Declining cover is a fine choice too — it just should be an informed one.

FAQs

Transit Insurance Questions

How much does transit insurance cost?

Premium is a percentage of the declared value of your goods and varies with the route and coverage type. It appears as its own line on the quotation, so you see exactly what protection costs before deciding.

Is insurance compulsory for my move?

No. It's offered on every consignment and recommended for long-distance and high-value moves, but the choice is yours. If you decline, the quotation notes that goods travel at owner's risk beyond standard carrier liability.

How long does a claim take to settle?

With complete documentation — pickup inventory, photos, delivery-day damage log — straightforward claims typically settle within a few weeks. Incomplete paperwork is what stretches claims out, which is why we build the file from day one.
